“Apply for Artistivo's free open call for artists worldwide. Get featured in a short film and Journal article. A few artists are selected every month.”
Discover the artists, stories and creative opportunities shaping Spain's vibrant and diverse art scene. The Spanish Artists Journal brings together artist interviews, behind-the-scenes stories, art news, exhibitions, open calls and opportunities for artists across Spain.
We explore the lives and creative processes of painters, sculptors, illustrators, photographers, musicians, dancers, designers and other creative talents across Spain. From emerging artists to established professionals, our interviews and features offer a closer look at their work, inspirations, challenges and artistic journeys.
Explore open calls for artists across Spain, including exhibition opportunities, art competitions, grants, artist residencies, public art projects and creative funding. We highlight opportunities in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Bilbao and beyond, helping emerging and established artists showcase their work, connect with galleries and cultural organisations, and develop their careers. Check application deadlines and requirements for each opportunity.
Beyond artist stories and opportunities, the Journal covers Spanish art exhibitions, cultural events, creative communities, independent galleries and developments in contemporary art. We explore Spain's artistic traditions alongside new creative movements and the people shaping its cultural landscape.
Artists based in Spain can apply to be featured in our Journal or Artist Visits series. Through interviews, articles and short videos, we introduce artists, explore their creative processes and share the stories behind their work.
Every month, we select a small number of artists from the applications we receive. Selected artists are featured completely free of charge, helping them showcase their work and reach a wider national and international audience. Artists are encouraged to create their free profile on SpainArtists.com before applying.
As part of the wider Artistivo community, Spanish Artists celebrates human creativity, artistic diversity and the people behind the work. We aim to connect creative communities across Spain while giving independent artists greater visibility.
All Journal articles are free to read, with no subscription or account required. Whether you're an artist searching for opportunities, a collector discovering talent in Spain, or simply exploring the country's creative culture, the Spanish Artists Journal is a place to discover art and the stories behind it.
